Wake The President are to release new single ‘In Youth There Is Pleasure’ and have organised and play as part of a Hogmanay extravaganza at Mono.
The Glasgow indie pop act’s new single comes from their recently released second album Zumutung! and is out on January 2 through We Can Still Picnic.
We can bring you exclusively the video to the single directed by Michael Sherrington, which features creative force behind the band, twins Bjorn and Erik Sandberg, reminiscing of past relationship or possibly demonstrating the joys of the present:
The Hogmanay event looks to be one of the hottest event going on in Glasgow this year as Mono plays host to a rather impressive duo calling themselves Jonny, who feature Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub) and Euros Child (Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci).
The line up also features a welcome return from Sweden for John B McKenna fronting his band Monoganon, along with the hosts Wake The President.
There’s also DJ sets from the wonderful David Barbarossa, who takes a break from his upstairs set at Nice ‘N Sleazy to get the dance floor moving at Mono, along with The Sophisticated Boom Boom and the Monorail DJs.
Going from the recent Wake The President show at Nice N’ Sleazy, as part of the venues birthday celebrations, the mere stature of the headliners and the engaging song writing and live performances from McKenna, this should be an exciting way to bring in the bells.
Tickets for Mono Hogmanay are available from Monorail Music and Tickets Scotland at £10, doors are at 7pm and closing time 2am.
