As the lights dim in the Hydro Ultravox take the stage and they waste no time, kicking of their set with ‘Brilliant’ getting the crowd moving.
As their set progresses, so does the excitement levels, favourites such as ‘Oh Vienna’ and ‘Dancing with Tears in My Eyes’ get great reactions.
They finish their energetic set with ‘Voices’ leaving the pumped up crowd excited for tonight’s headliners.
The last time Simple Minds played Glasgow nearly two years ago, so it isn’t surprising to see a goof turn out at the Hydro on a Wednesday night.
They claim they are out the make Simple Minds concert history, and that’s exactly what they do.
After opening with ‘Waterfront’ lead singer, Jim Kerr informs the crowd that they would be filming the gig so people could see just how good their gigs in Glasgow are.
This gets a great reaction, especially with fan favourites ‘Someone Somewhere in the Summertime’ and ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’, everyone seems to be having the night of their lives, dancing and singing back the lyrics.
Watching both bands perform with such a high level of energy, you would never guess they were all over 50, the only complaint that the crowd can have tonight is the fact it ended.
