Bystandereffect is – if nothing else – unique, producing ‘Old Cramps T Shirt’, a haunting, bizarre, dream-like experimental single.
Filled with unusual production techniques and effects, this single is rhythmic, versatile and enjoyable.
It whets the appetite well for any future releases as it suggests that the “electronic sludge” outfit – as they refer to themselves as – has a lot of ammunition.
The track is not showy or contrived but loose and airy, suggesting self-assuredness; it is great to hear a band producing electronic sludge and it will be interesting to see where they take it next.
The creepy vocal work cascades over the unusual electronic elements nicely, generating something seldom heard.
Hopefully the group can capitalise on this unique nature of theirs in the future, but for now ‘Old Cramps T Shirt’ will suffice nicely.
