‘Gut Milk’ is evidently the relaxing and not overly upsetting hangover to the party that is the other track on Yakima‘s upcoming double A-side single, ‘Wabi Sabi’.
It is a lot more relaxed and a lot more easy-going, which is an achievement considering the relaxed and easy going nature of the latter, as Yakima instantly strike you as a technically able and musically gifted bunch.
I am happy to report that the vocals exhibited on ‘Gut Milk’ fit well into the music and have been dialed back a notch as compared to previous releases – I was worried that ‘Wabi Sabi’ was a fluke.
Now that the full single has been released, it is clear that Yakima are gaining traction, honing their sound and capable of producing both technically impressive and audibly pleasing music.
Now that the vocals are in check, there is nothing standing in the way of this band.
The single is extremely moreish and engaging, the music has a distinctive presence – a great listen, check it out.
