There’s a fair wee buzz starting to build around Bathgate’s Lewis Capaldi, and it’s definitely well deserved.
Though Capaldi only released his debut single ‘Bruises’ at the end of March the singer-songwriter has already been selling-out shows left, right and centre, including a remarkable sold-out King Tut’s headline spot earlier in the year.
The hype is justified, as first release ‘Bruises’ is utterly gorgeous, and in the space of a few short weeks has amassed over three million plays on Spotify.
Proving the maxim “less is more” to be accurate, Capaldi showcases his impressive vocal with only a smattering of well-placed keys for accompaniment.
‘Bruises’ is soulful and haunting, as Capaldi retrospectively contemplates heartache and love lost, all delivered in tones with just the right amount of grit, which soar into an epic crescendo for the final chorus.
If you’ve been lucky enough to have scored tickets to see Capaldi this year then I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.
